About the Doctor :
Dr Ulf Myhre graduated with Honors from the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin 1984, having won the Silvermedal and first place in Pathology, Leonard Abrahamson Goldmedal and Price in Medicine, Jervis St Hospital First Price in Surgery. He underwent specialization in General Surgery in major hospitals in Ireland, England and Norway, also acquired training in Orthopedic, Urological, Gastroenterological, Trauma and Advanced Oncological Surgery, culminating in obtaining EU certification as Specialist in General Surgery 1996. Dr Myhre is a Major in the Reserves of the Norwegian Armed Forces, having served as a Military Surgeon and also held appointment at the Joint Medical Command, Division of Emergency Medicine and War Surgery. While in this capacity he also had the responsibility of organizing the education in Emergency Medicine and Surgery for medical students at Oslo University. Dr Myhre entered training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at St Elisabeth Heart Centre, Trondheim University, Norway and obtained EU certification as Specialist in Cardiothoracic Surgery 2000. Following this, he was a Clinical Fellow in Advanced Cardiac Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, where he underwent training in Heart Failure and Transplant Surgery, Valvular Repair Surgery, Arrhythmia Surgery, Aortic Surgery, Congenital Cardiac Surgery as well as a number of rare cardiac conditions and high risk category patients including participating in the development of Robotically Assisted Cardiac Procedures. Before coming to Malaysia, Dr Myhre has held appointments as a Specialist in Cardiac Surgery at University of Uppsala and at Scandinavia's biggest heart centre, Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden. In 2004 he was appointed Associated Professor in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Malaya, prior to serving as a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon with Malaysian Ministry of Health at Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Bahru and later at Serdang Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
